Land Clearing & Site Work in Langley

Langley is home. Whidbey Dirt Works is based here, on the bluff above Saratoga Passage on South Whidbey, and a good share of the land clearing and dirt work we have done over thirty years has been within a few miles of the shop.

Clearing around Langley means wooded lots, bluff properties, and parcels where you have to think carefully about slope and drainage before anything comes down. We clear it, grade it, and leave ground that drains. Call (360) 632-5159 — you will get Jeff, not a call center.

Bluff Lots and Slope

Coastal bluff property is beautiful and unforgiving. Strip a slope bare and you have invited erosion; cut into it carelessly and you have created a stability problem that is expensive and sometimes impossible to undo.

We clear slopes conservatively — pull the underbrush and the junk trees, leave the root mat where it is holding ground, and manage runoff rather than concentrating it. Some slopes should not be touched at all, and we will say so.

Our Own Backyard

Working where you live changes how you work. Every job around Langley is one we will drive past for years, and the neighbors know who did it.

That is the whole argument for hiring an island contractor. No ferry delays, no out-of-town crew that leaves at three, and someone who has to live with the result. Planning, clearing, and grading, all in-house.

Langley FAQ

Questions From Langley Property Owners

A few of the questions we hear most around Langley. Don't see yours? Call us — we're happy to help.

Call (360) 632-5159

Can you clear on a bluff or steep slope?
Sometimes, and carefully. Slope stability and erosion are real concerns on this coast, and there are properties where the honest answer is to leave the slope alone. We will tell you which one yours is.
Are you actually based in Langley?
Yes. Whidbey Dirt Works is an island-based, owner-operated company. No ferry crossings, no out-of-town crews.
Do I need a permit to clear my Langley lot?
It depends on whether you are inside the city or in unincorporated Island County, and on slope, wetlands, and shoreline proximity. We will help you figure out what your property needs.
