Whidbey Dirt Works has been clearing lots, homesites, and raw acreage on Whidbey Island for more than thirty years: dropping trees, pulling stumps and root balls, and taking blackberry, salal, and brush back to open ground. Island ground doesn't clear easy. Big Douglas fir and cedar, dense undergrowth that comes back fast in a wet winter, and glacial till and rock waiting under the topsoil. We clear it the way the site needs, deal with the debris the way you want, and follow through with grading and drainage so the finished lot sheds water instead of holding it. A lot scraped flat and left bare will rut, wash, and compact before a foundation ever gets poured — and on a slope it will move. We clear in a way that keeps the site working: pull the underbrush and the junk trees, leave the root mat doing its job where it matters, and shape the ground so runoff has somewhere to go.
Jeff came up building custom homes on this island before he ever ran a clearing crew, so he clears with the rest of the build in mind: where the pad goes, where the utilities run, how water moves across the lot in February. That is the difference between a cleared lot and a buildable one.
You have options, and we price them honestly. We can haul the material completely off-site and leave the property clean, stack or chip what is worth keeping, or set aside firewood-grade wood where you want it. What makes sense depends on the property, the access, and what you are doing next.
On tight island lots, access is usually the real constraint — narrow driveways, soft shoulders, and neighbors. We plan the haul route before we start so we are not tearing up your driveway to get the debris out. If the driveway needs help, we do driveway and road work too.

We come out and look at the actual ground — the growth, the slope, the wet spots, the access — listen to what you want done, and give you a straight, written estimate. No pressure, and no guessing at a price over the phone.
We lock in a date, plan equipment access and where the debris goes, and account for drainage, buried utilities, and anything on the property that has to be protected. You know the plan before a machine moves.
Our own crew runs our own machines, and Jeff is on-site. We keep the ground under control, keep you posted, and read what we find as we dig instead of forcing the plan through it.
